"I don't like violence, Tom. I'm a businessman; blood is a big expense." -
Sollozzo
So, you fancy yourself a mobster, eh? Think you're some big-shot now because
you're a part of the family? Think again. Things are different now; there
are 5 families on the block, and you won't last 5 minutes without me. If you
want to come out of this alive, you'd better listen, and listen good.
The Don wants you settin' up our territory; reckons you come from good
blood, reckons you can handle it. We'll see. You're gonna start by building
some apartments. They'll increase our influence in the neighborhood, get us
in good with the locals. They won't take long to build; we've got friends in
high places - but even we have limits. You'll be building a lot more than
apartments if you manage to survive, and they won't be so easy.
You're gonna have to watch yer back, too. Gangs and Thugs are always lookin'
to burn down our turf, and you're gonna have to teach ‘em a lesson, else the
lot of ‘em will be on our doorstep by morning. Don't worry, these rats won't
take long to deal with; just make sure to check back regularly - if you lose
the territory, you're finished. But the door swings both ways. Look after us
and we'll look after you; check your inventory for useful items regularly.
When we need you, we'll give you a job. Sometimes we'll need you to plan
construction for some of our new business ventures, other times we'll need
you to take care of someone - it doesn't matter to you. You just keep your
head down and do what we tell you in your Job List.
You manage to keep this place running, and we'll make sure you're looked
after just as well. We make a living by keeping this city alive; the city
pays what it owes when it owes it, and you'll be doing the collecting. Don't
worry, we've got a nifty GPS thing that'll let you know who owes what and
when. You just keep an eye on yer map and you'll be fine.
That's all there is to it, kiddo. We'll tell you what to build and where to
build it, who to kill and how to kill 'em - you just make sure the job gets
done and, who knows, you might just survive. Hell, play yer cards right and
you could be the next Don. Stranger things have happened.
