The Iron clad server is named after the heavy steam-propelled warships that were
used for approximately 100 years for a variety of sorties including high sea
battles, coastal clashes, and long-range cruising and defensive positions. Thus,
it's only fitting to introduce the missions revolving around the St Nazaire Dry
docks Raids
Code named "Operation Chariot," the British forces sought to recapture the
German-controlled St Nazaire, France, and force German ships to return home
instead of repairing and restocking in the Atlantic. A decommissioned ship was
driven into the docks, packed with explosives, which put the dock not only out
of commission for the remainder of WWII but also for numerous years after.
Though 18 small craft were intended to ferry the commandos back to England, 170
were killed and over 200became prisoners of war.
